lusting so bad

how gorgeous are these clutches? the leather looks so buttery, especially the pebbled leather. and the colors are so vibrant. if I had to choose which one I want right now, I would be in a jam. I love the bright royal blue, but then again I love my neutral greys. but look below, that salmony orange! I have been liking orange accessories and the color of the orange clutch seems neutral enough. and red.. look at that soft pebblely leather.

so hard to choose.

goodreads.

anybody a member of goodreads? I have an account (since 2008!) and I find it so useful. I use it to save all the books I want to (eventually) read and I like that it keeps a little tally of the books I did read.

it's also a good place to get some recommendations. so that's why I want to know if anybody else is an account and add me. I love seeing what other people are reading.

I have a little "favorite" shelf and these are books I tell everyone to read. I can get quite repetitive but when a book inspires, touches and informs you, it's hard to keep it to yourself. so add me and see what's on my shelf.

some of my favorites..
  • a tree grows in brooklyn by betty smith
  • eating animals by jonathan safran foer
  • the glass castle by jeannette walls
  • blankets by craig thompson
  • extremely loud and incredibly close by jonathan safran foer
  • the little prince by antoine de saint-exupery
the books above should be read by everyone.

remember when I said I would share the recipes I had made on mother's day?

I have the habit of bookmarking tons of recipe with the intentions to make them. but being honest, I don't really make them. it's too much work to go out and buy ingredients that are not normally in my pantry. and sometimes I'm just too darn lazy. but for mother's day, I was prepping and cooking for what seemed like forever.

mixed green salad with pecans, goat cheese, and honey mustard vinaigrette
so yummy. yes I followed a recipe for a salad (says a lot about what level I'm at in the kitchen). I substituted feta cheese for goat cheese. the dressing is good, change it a bit to your liking, I added more honey mustard and honey so it matches my palette. so easy to make and I've made it several times for lunch now. (recipe here)

crab mango and avocado salad
I knew I had to make this after seeing crab and avocado in the title alone. being raised in the west coast has spoiled me. avocados and dungeness crab are easy to come by and my love for these two items started before I could read. with that said, this recipe was good, but I thought the mango puree deterred the taste of the avocado and crab. it would have been good without the mango puree. but nonetheless, still good. (recipe here)

classic sole meuniere
so simple and good. buttery and lemony. crispy but not too crispy. and very easy to make. I ended up buying more sole filets so I can whip this up when I'm hungry. I am shocked at how easy and delicious it is. for the time it takes to prep and make this, you wouldn't expect such a yummy dish. and what a surprise when I learned that the recipe was from molly from orangette (love her blog and book!). (recipe here)

so whip yourself up a simple dinner, make the 1st salad and fish dish. you'll be surprised how such a delicious meal can be made in a matter of minutes. (the crab, mango, avocado salad takes a LONGG time to make and honestly not worth all the trouble and $$$)

simple & stylish.

as girls, our love for clothes starts at mom's closet. remember the times when your mom would be busy and you would sneek in and wear her high heels and loose dress, spritz on some womanly perfume and pose in front of the mirror? and ever since then I loved browsing other people's closets.

so how great is it that jeana sohn does closet visits!

and my favorite from all the lovely girls she has showcased is claire cottrell (simple, comfortable but yet still stylish!).

a quick interruption with this message...

this cat makes me smile every single time
when I watch maru's video, I start wondering about reincarnation.
that cat has to be a human in different shape and form.

happy mother's day!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOMMAS OUT THERE

probably at this time, I am pooped from cooking a mother's day dinner for my family. and since I don't like chaos, I usually cook a nice simple dinner for my mom. avoiding chaos in the restaurants on holidays are a good thing. on the menu tonight is a simple fish dish, two types of salad, corn and pre-bought dessert. very simple, indeed. and if it turns out good, I will be sure to share where I found the recipes. until then, here are some pictures of mothers and their kins.

long waited etsy update

I don't know about you but I don't think I update my etsy shop enough. my mind is very fickle. I thought updating every friday would be a good idea. little did I know time gets the best of me and here I am updating my etsy shop in the wee sunday morning. and although I have a few more items to add, I am done for this week. who knows, I might randomly a couple items or just wait until the weekend. my mind likes to change a lot so I shouldn't set it in stone...
